The Regatta On Every Rowers Bucket List

by Cameron McKenzie-McHarg on September 03, 2015

Every rower needs to have these two events on their bucket list; Boston’s Head of the Charles Regatta and England’s Henley Royal Regatta. With over 170 years of history and just as much action off the water as on the water, Henley is an event every rower should experience. Racing kicked off yesterday in record breaking temperatures, with a strong international field across all categories. For those not familiar with the event, Henley has it’s own unique set of rules. Unlike multi-lane international regattas, Henley still operates a knock-out draw with a head-to-head racing format where two boats racing each race, with only the winner progressing through, so the pressure is on as soon as you hit the water for race 1.

776BC co-founder Cameron McKenzie-McHarg has teamed up with fellow Beijing Olympic Men’s Four crew mates James Marburg and Francis Hegerty combined with other Australian representative rowers; Tim Webster, John Linke, Angus Moore, Michael Poulter, Harrison Casey and Adam Brown to represent Melbourne University Boat Club in the Ladies Plate.
