Men's K4 Shine at U23 World Championships

The Junior and U23 Australia Sprint Paddle Team have concluded their time in Pitesti, Romania with two gold and one silver medal.

The weekend saw a mix of results from the Australian Team which consisted of athletes with a variety of international experience. The U23 Men’s K4 500 meter of Riley Fitzsimmons, Jackson Collins, Thomas Green and Jean Van Der Westhuyzen managed to finish as predicted with a gold medal coming on Sunday the 4th August. The crew which also race in the Australian Senior Team showed their experience with a near perfect final race. They now set their focus to the senior World Championships in Szeged, Hungary in two weeks’ time.

Earlier in the competition Thomas Green pulled off a solo win in the U23 Men’s K1 1000 meter. Green who surged onto the international scene in 2018 is continuing his impressive form having recently made his first senior A final. Jackson Collins and Jean van der Westhuyzen picked up Australia’s other medal in the U23 Men’s K2 1000 meter. The duo showed impressive form and pushed the Hungarians the whole race.
